Contra Dancing
(return to
Civilian Schedule)
Country Folk Dancers will perform 17th and 18th
century dances enjoyed during the time of the War for Independence.
Among the most popular dances of the colonial time were country dances
from England and France. Dance Masters would travel through the colonies
teaching dances to those who could afford lessons. Many of the same
steps are used in square dancing today.
